Forget Me Not
I tell myself I shouldn’t worry,
I=m sure there’s no need to hurry.
Uncertain I, pick up my pen,
and then I put it down again.
Look at the list and see the date,
I=m reassured it=s not too late.
There=s lots of time I=ll vow and swear,
before It=s time for Christmas fare.
For Christmas pudd and turkey roast,
and all the things I love the most.
But hark! the herald calendar,
doth surely tell a date too far.
For time has flown while here I sit,
and all my cards remain unwrit.
What can I do? I=m late again,
what have I got instead of brain?
Oh lack a day, and twice I scold,
but then an answer I behold.
I=ll send my greeting, full of cheer,
in time to wish you ‘Happy New Year’.
